The charging of the battery is generally divided into two kinds of balanced charging and floating charging. Below, we will understand the difference between the battery and floating charging in detail.
Equal charge:
In order to compensate for the uneven voltage generated by the battery in the process of use, the charging is carried out to restore it to the specified range, and the wave recharging after large capacity discharge is called balanced charging. equal charge is constant current charge.
It has two main purposes:
1, when the battery is discharged, quickly add electric energy;
2, when the individual battery voltage deviation, eliminate the deviation, tend to balance.
So equal charge is also called fast charge.
Equal charge is the periodic activation of battery charging. Regular charging extends battery life and ensures capacity. It is generally constant current charging, and the current charging screen can adjust the regular charging time is generally 180 days, and the specific setting is different for each, and some are charged once regularly for 30 days.
When the battery is charged at a constant current, it is equalized, and it will automatically float charge when it is full.
The equal charge current is 1/10H of the battery capacity, for example: 100AH battery equal charge current 10A, the charging voltage system is automatically controlled, and the constant current 10A is charged for 3 hours.
Floating charge:
In normal operation, the charging device bears the regular load, and at the same time charges the battery pack to supplement the self-discharge of the battery, so that the battery is in reserve at full capacity.
There are three main purposes:
Charging curve
1, keep the battery voltage in the floating charge voltage range, at this time the battery grid (that is, the conductive skeleton of the plate) corrosion in the slowest state, can extend the battery life.
2, supplement the capacity loss caused by battery self-discharge, keep sufficient power.
3, inhibit sulfation caused by recrystallization of active substances.
After the battery is fully charged, use a small current to continue charging the battery, which is called floating charging. The floating charging voltage is slightly higher than trickle charging, which is enough to compensate for the self-discharge loss of the battery and can quickly restore the battery to the nearly fully charged state after the battery discharge. Also known as continuous charging. This charging method is mainly used in telephone switching stations, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and various backup power supplies.
Floating charge is constant voltage and small current charge.
The conversion between neutral and floating charge is automatically controlled by the monitoring module
Battery equalization is the use of constant current charging, charging fast, short duration;
Floating charge is the constant voltage charge of the battery, which lasts a long time and charges slowly.
The general floating charging voltage takes 1.125 times the rated voltage of the battery X the number of batteries; The equal charge voltage is 1.175 times the rated battery voltage X number of batteries.
For example:
12V 9 battery pack
Floating charging voltage 1.125X12X9=121.5v
Uniform charging voltage 1.175 x 12X9=126.9v
The general charge and discharge experiment is done with a capacity of 0.1C
For example, a 100Ah battery pack, that is, with 10A current, discharge for 10 hours, in theory, 10X10=100Ah, just to discharge all the capacity of the fully charged battery (but generally not all).
The battery voltage should be recorded once every hour during discharge, and once every half hour for the last 2 hours. Be careful not to put the battery below the allowable minimum voltage, otherwise it will cause permanent damage!
